• bakra: I can totally understand why this is the most frequent keyword. Here’s what I would try to say, though: while bakras are the most popular animal of choice for most people, this Eid is called بَقَرہ عید, and not بکرا عید. I hope I’ve made my point.
• bakra pic(s), bakra photo(s), bakra picture(s), bakra images, image for bakra: Here you go. They are great, aren’t they?
• most beautiful bakra pic: See the post title. Good luck.
• cuet bakray pic: See the post title. Wait, I have got one!
• bakra poetry: So sorry, buddy, I only know of one couplet (from Iqbal’s گائے اور بکری):
  

  ؎ یوں تو چھوٹی ہے ذات بکری کی
  دل کو لگتی ہے بات بکری کی

  And this one from Anwar Maqsood:

یہ تحریر، جو ڈائری-ایکس کے بند ہو جانے کی وجہ سے میرے بلاگ سے گُم ہو گئی تھی، میں نے اکتوبر ۲۰۰۵ کے زلزلے کے بعد آنے والی عید الفطر پر لکھی تھی۔ چند دن پہلے ایک پرانی ہارڈ ڈِسک کو چھان رہا تھا کہ اتفاقاً یہ سامنے آ گئی۔ اب سوچتا ہوں تو اداس سی حیرت ہوتی ہے کہ کس طرح پانچ سالہ پرانی یہ تحریر ایک مرتبہ پھر موزوں ہو گئی ہے۔

میں عید کا چاند ہوں۔

اور میرے لئے سب سے بڑی مصیبت یہ ہے کہ آج مجھے ان علاقوں میں بھی دیکھا گیا ہو گا جہاں دیکھنے کے لئے درد ناک مناظر کے علاوہ اور کچھ نہیں بچا۔

لیکن ہم سب، میں اور آپ، مجبور ہی تو ہیں۔

میری مجبوری آسمان پر نکلنا، اور آپ کی مجبوری عید کا جشن منانا۔

God knows how much these goats and cows swear at us while we make them perform all sorts of gymnastics.

P.S. I wish I had found this picture last year while creating The Bakra Comic.

I went to bed early last night with a roza in my mind. I woke up this morning to see my cell phone blaring with Eid Mubarak text messages.

Apparently, the moon made a special (but late) guest appearance while I was asleep.

Anyway, I couldn’t get my creative mind working on this Eid (calling my mind creative might be an overstatement, by the way), so I am not coming up with a proper Eid card. But a bubbly family is at least something, even if their kid is whining for Eidi.

What does a silk daisy on a red background has to do with Eid?

Actually, nothing. But the red in this photo is so gorgeously bright and energetic—and since Eid is all about being bright and energetic—I thought that that would make a good Eid image. Also, at least for me, the photo is quite cheerful, and on Eid we ought to be cheerful.

(I do hope, however, that the red does not remind people of Tapal danedar. Gasp!)

Anyway, it’s Eid time, people. And Eid is too precious an occasion to waste by thinking about a white daisy on red, or about Tapal danedar, or whatever. Go and have some fun: Poke your elders for Eidi; stuff your stomachs with sheer khorma; call your friends; send nasty text messages like “eid ayee zamanay mein, <recipient’s name> gir parra/parri ghusal-khanay mein“… you get the idea!

And do send some Eidi this way!

And here we are again, this time with my Eid-ul-Azha masterpiece!

This cute little bakra managed to grab my attention the moment I saw him. And no, I didn’t see him in the local bakra mandi, but on a stock photography website. (The info provided there by the photographer tells that this goat belongs to Belgium.)

Anyway, I hope that all of you enjoy the spirit of sacrifice. And I hope that you enjoy the tikkas as well.

P.S. Anyone care to spend the next Eid in Belgium? I have a feeling that this bakra would still be alive till then.

By the way, do tell me that this flower rocks. I found it on a stock photography website at the time when, oddly enough, I was thinking of designing an Eid card with cakes as the main design element. I still don’t know why I didn’t think of apples instead.
