Time to study, really?

Sunday, November 30, 2003

Eid came, Eid went. Now exams have come, and they are here to stay.

The mid-term exams are here as usual, again after the Eid. I don’t know why but the university guys always like to give exams as our Eidi. Such a great Eidi it is, as it lingers for one whole week. Every morning in that week, we wake up, open our eyes so that we could find our books, and then search for those chapters which we have studied. Then after a couple of minutes, we leave the books, cursing them and their authors, and then reach the university where our maqtal (execution-house) waits for us in the form of examination-hall.

OK, I know not all examination-halls are maqtals. In fact, some are very comfortable for sitting in and relaxing. I remember that on some occassions I had lazily kept sitting in the hall after attempting the whole test. But most of the time, I just get out after I am finished with the test. Sometimes even without re-checking my answers. How I pay for it is another matter.

So, the bottom line is that the mid-terms are starting from tomorrow, and that I should go and study, and that I shouldn’t take them as a piece of cake, as they are not the traditional kind of Eidi we get.

Wish me luck!

Having exams immediately after Eid is a torture beyond words. Best of luck! I went through this ordeal last year.

As long as those examination-halls have vending machines I suppose you’ll be JUST fine! haha.

Good luck, Saadat. Nothing like the good feeling after satisfactorily completing a well studied for test.

Thanks everybody! :)

Jogia: Khattak Sahab! We have had the honour of taking a test under his invigilation. The rest you know better!

Hafsa: You’re lucky to have experienced it last year only, we go through this torture after every Eid *sigh*

Mani: My man, you KNOW that I’m a genius ;) Calm down, calm down, I am no Einstein. Don’t you know that the ones who have nothing to write are the quick finishers? :P Aur meri baton ka matlab watlab kuch nahin hota

Laura: Hahaha! I wish they had vending machines there in the exam-halls …

aww I feel your pain, Saadat. I have endless term papers due this week, and the week after thisis final exams. And yet, much like you, I’m sitting here blog-hopping and trying to ignore my conscience. =) Good luck with your exams, insha’Allah.

p.s. Sometimes, exam halls are a bit TOO comfortable for sitting in and relaxing…I’ve fallen asleep during a couple of exams before, and woke up about 5 minutes before time was called. All I remember is feverishly calculating answers, and bubbling in answers randomly. hahaha. Oh yeah, and my score sucked.

Yasmine: LOL! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any time to get a little sleep in today’s test … may be tomorrow, or any other day. There are still five tests to come! And best of luck for your papers =)

Binje: Sure yaar, the Q&A session goes on all the time with guys sitting nearer ;)

And thanks, both of you :)

Awww…exams as Eidi. Now that’s just cold. haha inshaAllah you’ll do well though! Mine’s next Tuesday. Can’t believe how the days are just creeping up on me. It seems as though it was only yesterday a miniature mademoiselle was toddling along with a doll wrapped up in toilet paper signifying its mummification. :what:

Wow haha. I cant imagine falling asleep during an exam. I’m too nervous or too frustrated or just plain dazed. haha. careful of drooling though ;)

Ayesha, you sleep whole day long after the paper? quite imaginative :) We used to play cricket and frisbee back at college coz both of these games were officially banned in other times. Us k bad na papers rahey na un ki tension, lucky me or poor me. Good luck Saadat for the one last paper. This is the one jis main aglee pichlee saree kaser nikaal saktey ho esp. if its maths or stats paper.

hey yo…

exam stress and trauma is the same each time, the same last minute cramming, late night jampacked coffee places, frenzied photocopies, banging heads and bloodshot eyes.

what keeps me going, though, is knowing that i go through this every year, and despite the “teacher is a moron!”; “I didnt study a word”, only that came which i didnt touch… u stll manage to scrape through.

chill.

You need to re-consider your arithmetic skills, eX!

No, I don’t sleep after the exams, Ayesha, I just go for a long walk (which is actually the walk between the campus and my home!) And Ejaz, it was Stats, aur agli pichli sari kasar nikal kar hi aya hon!

Bushraella (great nick, by the way!), I am so glad, I scraped through! Let’s see what we’ll have the next time …
