This blog is no longer being updated. Last post was “Farewell”.
“Utho rozay-daro… Jannat ke haq-daro… utho utho…”
Okay. Here I am. Back. From God knows where. All I remember is… er… nothing. I mean, all these days when I was “snooping around others’ blogs” and trying to “make my previous post a memory”, I was also trying to get myself with a topic, on which I could write something. And, as expected, I ended up with no topic. So here I am. Back. From God knows where. And all I remember is that I have no topic to write on.
Okay. Let’s just forget the topic. This journal is about my ulti seedhi thoughts. And ulti seedhi thoughts don’t need any topic.
Every day before sehri, I hear this sound which has become so familiar now. The sound of a dhol (a kind of drum), played by a person whose face I’ll see on Eid day. So who’s this person? He is the one who comes and wakes us up from sleep every day. Yelling at the top of his voice (utho rozay-daro), and playing his dhol loudly, he makes almost everybody wake up. And I can imagine, that on Eid day, his smiling face will be asking everybody in the street for a generous amount of Eidi…
Sigh. The world and its people. Its people and their stories. Their stories and their morals. Their morals and the world. The world and its people…

Hmm…. Saadat sitarey gardish mein hain…. Gemini, sitarey , u know. that’s why we have nothing to write about. Dont worry according to my prediction there will be a lot happening in blogistaan world when the mercury which is the guiding planet of gemini will come in contact with pluto with the saturn making right turn at the angle of the Uranus’ 13 star.

Hahaha. Sure, what she said
I think i’d love the idea of having someone go around outside and call out those who’re fasting, waking them up. My parents get nostalgic over the “good ol’ days” back home and how Ramadan was just…well basically it was DA BOMB and I’m like..well yeah ok fine but..but I’ve got FROOT LOOPS for sehri. mmhmm o yea. beat that.
*clears throat* Right. What she said.

Ayesha: You mean, Mercury is going to go and contact Pluto? The messenger is going to go and have a meeting with the dark lord? That’s dangerous, you know. But if it provides me with a topic to write on, then I guess it’ll be okay! =)
Mademoiselle: Froot loops for sehri? I have got doodh jalebiyan! *rolls eyes*
AWK: Sure!

ohhh! I remember when I lived in the village, and every morning before suhoor we used to have a man wander through the narrow streets calling out, “Utho, rozay daro” too! Jazak’Allah khayr for the memories…I had totally forgotten about that. =) I hope your Ramadan is going well insha’Allah.

Though I have no memory of these dholwala routine but I remember there was a maulvi from our colony masjid who literally used to swear at ppl at sahar time sermonizing something like “oye loggon ab uth jao sahar ka waqt ho chala hay, sari raat iftariyan katay rahay ho ibadat ki hoti tu subah uth jatay blah blah blha ( add some swear words too) whole neighborhood hated him but I always found him hilarious those were the best sehris of my life, as a result of his sermons over flowing with religious fervor ,he was thrown out of the colony. …
