After the Rain

Tuesday, February 10, 2004

Wse and I were walking on the road-side when a car passed us, splashing the rain water away.

It rained here in Rawalpindi yesterday, and although the sun was shining today, it didn’t shine enough to dry away all those muddy and slippery streets and passages. A gift we get after every rain. And thanks to my Terminatorish walking style, I again got my trousers decorated with mud sprinkles, and those too upto where the back of my knees is!

“You know what,” I said to Wse after that car went past us, “whenever you are driving a car, splashing around on a day like today and then come near a pedestrian, and then that pedestrian looks at you expecting that you will slow down; watching that look is quite a delight.”

Wse smiled.

“And then,” I continued, “when you don’t slow down and pass that pedestrian, it’s again a great sight to watch the expression in his eyes.”

This time Wse laughed. “And how does it feel when you are the pedestrian?” He asked me.

“It’s a delight again,” I laughed too, “as I know how much the driver is enjoying my looks!”

Anyone doubting the doze of delight of such an experience can go and experiment it. Make sure that you will have to change places (driver/pedestrian) in order to enjoy it fully!

I used to drive fast through the water puddles in pak after rains but for a good reason. The splashing water cleans all the mud and oil from the under carriage and the wheel wells.

Rain can be beautiful, but I wish someone would flip the sunshine switch already. =)

hehe :P . The thought link between the driver and the pedestrian..now thats funny. I remember waiting for the bus for school…and this truck goes by and its not just rain and mud…but slush…yukhy mukhy icey water with dirt in it. You know u try and move back but never enough…I guess trajectory learning didn;t do me any good ;) shouldn’t have stepped back. The girl next to me curses and swears and I head home laughing to change me clothes.
