So what do Venus and I have in common? Nothing, actually.
Venus is a planet. I am a person. Venus does not live on Earth. I live on Earth. Venus won’t be able to see me tomorrow while passing across the face of the Sun. I will be able to see Venus tomorrow while it passes across the face of the Sun. Venus, according to ancient myths, is goddess of love. I, according to astrology, am a Gemini. Venus, according to the same myths, is a female. I, thankfully, am a male and don’t need any myths for confirmation.
So, again, what do Venus and I have in common? Nothing, actually.
But am I missing something? Venus is about to make a Sun passage after 122 years. It will appear as a dot on the Sun and continue its transit for about six hours. OK right, no big news I am telling you — I guess everybody who is reading these lines knows about it. Everybody also knows that it’s going to happen tomorrow, i.e. 8th June. And that’s what makes me think if Venus and I have something in common.
Because 8th June is the day when I arrived in this world.
So now, what do Venus and I have in common? That Venus has decided to show itself on my birthday.
Fine. That doesn’t make me any better or worse. I will most probably remain the same Saadat as I was. Or may be if I do change, I don’t think it would be because of some planet and its transit. Even if astrologers are busy making money from their clients due to this transit, I don’t really care, as according to astrology I am ruled by Mercury. And I really don’t think that arrival of Venus in my ‘chart’ would do any good or bad to me.
Because what I know is that tomorrow’s my birthday and I’ll be 21 years old. God, I must be growing up.
So what was it that I was saying? Ah yes, what do Venus and I have in common? Nothing, actually!

happy birthday saadat!
when we went to waterloo a summer ago, i bought an astronomy calendar and it has various dates on eclipses, full moons and…planets! there’s just something really fascinating about astronomy. i love aurora’s.
anyway, i hope you have a great birthday. many happy returns of the day!
